The gospel of your salvation
Salvation
What the word means, then what the text says plainly: saved from what, what it cost, what saves, repentance, born again, a new heart, redeemed, justified, adopted, people the text shows being saved, and assurance. Then three questions readers answer differently: whether it can be lost, baptism, and choosing. There each side is given its own place with every verse it reads, labeled as how that side reads them; the site does not choose. Every verse here is checked word for word against the King James before the site goes up.
What the word means

In short
Read moreThe site's summary, in our words, not the text's: to be saved is to be delivered. In the Old Testament the word is often deliverance from enemies or danger; in the New Testament it is above all being saved from sin and what sin brings, through Jesus Christ. The three sources below are given as they are, each labeled.

Paul wrote
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:27
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6:3
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4
How this side reads it: the text joins believing and being baptized ("He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved"), and says baptism doth also now save us, so baptism is part of how a person is saved. This side reads the thief on the cross as before the new covenant began at Jesus' death.
Read it: Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:21, John 3:5, Galatians 3:27, Romans 6:3-4
Read as: saved by believing, and baptism follows

and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8
Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:9
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. Romans 4:5
For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. 1 Corinthians 1:17
Jesus said
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. John 6:47
Jesus said to the thief
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43
Peter said
Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? Acts 10:47
Paul and Silas said
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Acts 16:31
How this side reads it: a person is saved by believing, as the thief on the cross was with no baptism, and Cornelius' house received the Holy Ghost before they were baptized; baptism follows as obedience and a figure (1 Peter 3:21 says "the like figure"). This side reads Mark 16:16 as damning only the one who believeth not.
Read it: Ephesians 2:8-9, Luke 23:42-43, Acts 10:44-47, 1 Corinthians 1:17, John 6:47, Romans 4:5, Acts 16:31
Read differently: who can be saved, and choosing

The LORD said through Ezekiel
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked Ezekiel 33:11
but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways Ezekiel 33:11
for why will ye die, O house of Israel? Ezekiel 33:11
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
How this side reads it: God will have all men to be saved and is not willing that any should perish, so the offer is to whosoever will, and each one answers it. This side reads the choosing verses (next) as God choosing those he foreknew would believe (Romans 8:29), or as choosing for a work (John 15:16).
Read it: 1 Timothy 2:4, 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 2:2, Titus 2:11, Revelation 22:17, Ezekiel 33:11, John 3:16, Romans 10:13
Read as: God chooses who will be saved

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: 2 Thessalonians 2:13
Jesus said
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. John 6:44
Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16
Luke wrote
And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. Acts 13:48
How this side reads it: God chose his own before the foundation of the world, and no man can come unless the Father draw him, so salvation rests on God's choosing, not on man's willing. This side reads the "all" verses (above) as all kinds of men, or as God's desire, not his choosing. Many hold both sets of verses together without settling how they fit (Philippians 2:12-13).
Read it: Romans 8:29-30, Ephesians 1:4-5, John 6:44, Romans 9:15-16, Acts 13:48, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, John 15:16
